My large blade has become useless due to chips and chunks on the cutting surface. I realize now it was just another TV scam and not worth the money spent. After reading the other complaints I decided trying to get a replacement is not worth the time or trying to get ahold of a person is not either. I don't have enough word to say 100 words of complaints without getting anything done for my time and money spent on this. So blah blah blah blah blah blah blah no no no no no no more ever ever ever

This knife is a total waste of money, don't buy!

I got this knife around July of 2012. I've used it sparingly for cutting vegetables and the like. Never for cutting bone or anything the knife doesn't recommend. After using it a couple of times it got a couple of chips in it. I chalked it up to my misuse (maybe dropping it into the sink or on the counter). Boy was I wrong. I never put the knife in the dishwasher and always washed, dried, and put it away after each use. Last night I was cutting LETTUCE to make a salad and the knife broke in half! Man was that some dangerous lettuce! I would not recommend wasting your money on these knives. I have a similar one from Crate and Barrel that I have no problem with that was the same cost. I'm sure other companies make good ones as well.

Yoshi Company Ripped off

I first bought Two Complete set of Yoshi after the sales pitch. No notification, and took 3 months and still NO item. I called and finally gotten hold of a live person and was told it was on back order and should ship soon. Finally it took almost 6 months to arrive. We were fairly satisfied in the beginning but the blades started to chip and cracked. At first we blame our selves for damaging the blades but NOW I see this is not just our family. The story gets worst when my wife wanted and ordered the "diamond" coated frying pans. Yes we also bought two complete sets but this we figure it will take a few months to get to the front door. after 2 months I call again, but they claim the order was processed (email sent) somehow shipment was sent to a different apartment (in NYC we have 500 apartments in the building so I have make sure sales gotten the exact apartment) someone signed and received the box so they completed their shipment??? I tried to call my credit card but the 60 days of fraud claim had passed. We got royally screwed by this incompetent outfit. NO MORE YOSHI. I hope this company go out of business for us, the consumers' sake.

Yoshiblade no warranty for broken handle

I was told today that if I had purchased 1 month sooner, I would have a warranty, but now I have nothing, but a broken handle on my knife. I will not buy another and the blade doesn't hold up either. The blades on both of the knives are chipping and connot be sharpened. Kenny from customer service had the record of my purchase from the web and informed me of the 1 month policy, yet when I purchased, they said it came with a lifetime warranty. Be very careful of their promises as they mean nothing and neither do the customers.

Yousi Blade

I baught the Yousi Blade not even a year ago and it is not cutting already. They are supposed to last for years. I am a very pissed customer and I either want a refund or a new one.. The blade is dull and it will not even cut a pickle. This company that made them are nothing but lies and they better do something to make the knives better or this complaint will go further than here. Stop lying to your customers and actually give them something that works. Like I said before I want a refund or a new one that actually works.

Yoshie Blades

Bought the ceramic kife and and had a problem when it got pits in it. Called and sent the knife back and they replaced it. Now it or the other knife has pitted. I don't think it is worth the trouble to send it back. I did like the knife but if it keeps having problems they should change how they design it or what it is made of. Why do I have to keep typing when I have said all I need to say?? Also when I sent the knife back they had to send a peeler. O

Yoshi Blade-Dangerous!

My mother purchased the knife some time ago and today for my father's birthday, we decided it would be good to use on a ice cream cake. Big mistake. My father went to cut the first piece of the still frozen cake and while trying to force the knife to cut the cake, the blade broke. This resulted in an almost serious injury for my father. The blade cut a vein on his hand. The injury could have been much worse than it was, but I strongly advise that no one ever purchases this knife. It is not worth it.

Read instructions it clearly says not to cut frozen items

I owned two Yoshi knives. The tip broke off the first

One and the blade slipped out of the handle just like

Previous reports. I was NOT cutting ice cream

Cake. These knives are just not well made but

I love how sharp they are. I would love to have

More but afraid I will get cut. :(

Guest

Not only is it dangerous in this manner, one of our knives were picked up, with no damage to it, still looking new, and the blade just fell out of the handle almost cutting someones foot off. Of course they refuse to replace it even knowing there is no doubt it is manufacturing defect as there is zero damage to the blade or the handle.

It is a rip off company with really *** manufacturing, stay away from these really dangerous poorly made knives.

Guest

I'm not saying the company is responsible but I just made a complaint to warn other people how dangerous this product could be. Though it is ceramic, that was unknown at the time so yes it was improperly used.

However, others complaining about it said that it shattered even if it was used properly. The product is dangerous and there is no warning or anything with the advertisements and there is also slightly false advertising with the notion that their product is indestructible.

BigBruce Jhc

"Sure it might have been stupidity"...But yet someone else should be responsible for your stupidity?

Guest

@CTYankee no one in the room at the time knew it was ceramic, if we had known then we wouldn't have used it. It is supposed to be a really sharp blade and that's all that was known at the time of its use.

My mother was not in the room and she had purchased it and had not said much about it.

It still shouldn't have broke in the manner that it did and so easily by the way the product is advertised. Sure it might have been stupidity but people do things without thinking sometimes and by the looks of other complaints, the product breaks from regular use which is pontentially dangerous..

Guest

Although I do not have a Yoshi blade knife, nor do I anticipate buying one, I simply had to comment and tell the world how *** you were to try to cut ice cream cake with a ceramic knife.

Would you use a piece of plate glass to pull a nail out of a board? How about a glass thermometer to open a juice box? It was your stupidity that made the knife dangerous, not the manufacturer nor the ceramic composition.

Yoshi Blade knife

I just talked to customer service at Yoshi and was told since my knife not only is chipped on the blade itself but the handle also cracked today, that I can mail it back for a replacement, for the COST of $9.99 shipping and handling. Some guarantee. I am a 69yr old housewife, I used it only in my kitchen and today just slicing a block of cheddar cheese the handle split in two places. My husband had been complaining about it not being sharp like it was at first, so other peoples complaints are most valid. I will be throwing mine away and telling all my friends NOT to buy one of these.

Yoshi Knife

Don't deal with these a/holes. The blade shattered under normal use so I called (the so called customer service) and got no satisfaction at all. These guys are a scam! The blade worked fine initially and I was willing to just accept a replacement but the reaction of "customer service " totally changed my view of this product and company. It was obvious that they are trained to just deny any claims or issues so if you decide to buy their products do not expect any real support. A typical case of "buyer beware". DONT DEAL WITH THESE GUYS!

Yoshi blade

Purchased a youshi blade from Walmart. After a few washes, 2 knicks appeared in the blade~followed correct washing guidelines. Contacted their customer service & refused to replace the item because I do not have a receipt. Have had defective items from other companies & never had an issue getting replacement products due to defect without a receipt. A return ccontainer was provided to send back the product with those companies. To top it off the customer service representative was rude, the supervisor that I requested was no better. In other words yoshi blades suck & mislead consumers with their garuntee of the product.

FALSE ADVERTISING on their part! It was never mentioned that you needed the receipt for the lifetime warranty. What a scam!

YOSHIBLADE.COM =RIP-OFF SCAM

YOSHIBLADE.COM The web page is a rip-off SCAM!!! รฏยยฌAgree there was no way back. My story is even worse. I wanted 2 knives $ 19.99 each. (I thought that was deal because Amazon charges $19.99 for one). After collecting credit card information it was many buttons appearing. It gave me the option of one upgrade to a 3 knife set, but just as if a sensitive touch pad made that choice for me, and I had no way going back correcting on the web page! รฏยยฌThe sudden final charge came to Total $157.86 Shipping & Handling $57.92 รฏยยฌCANCEL the order. Email CustomerService@***.com DO NOT GIVE UP!!! (That is what they are counting on. Also, make sure you go on their privacy page and demand all your info will be kept away from other marketers!) รฏยยฌKEEP CALLING THEM ON THE 1-877-44-YOSHI. After many timed out trials I came through and talked to a person and he said they canceled the order! As if he was expecting me, immediately asking zip and last name. I bought this knife because I had seen how great it was and you never have to sharpen the knife but after I got it, the tip of the blade broke off. After more uses, some more of the blade broke off and the knife is now dull as ***.

I tried to sharpen it and now it's even duller. Glad I didn't spend my own money with this *** knife.

Guest

Hate this knife . The tip of the blade broke for no reason , what a waste of money :(

Guest

I have bought 1 and the handle broke so I bought the second 1 and the blade broke so my husband got another 1 and I was just cutting a apple in half and the blade broke in half. that it they are nothing but junk. and I called them and they don't stand behind the warranty replacement.Don't buy any

Guest

Bought a pair of the Yoshi's. At first, the knife seemed really good.

But! It lost the sharpness to even cut a tomato after only 2 or 3 months. They lied about this product. A metal knife would be much better and capable of being sharpened.

Don't buy it!! :(

Guest

This knife broke in the middle while cutting fresg Salmon fish. (I did not touch any bones. Just the filewt part.

I am back to steel knives.

I am never going to touch these product or the Israeli Web Site who sold them to me

Guest

Wow! Sounds like garbage.

Thanks for all the comments (pages and pages of them). I have nice carbon/stainless knives and was reading this to see if this knife could be used as a cheaper sharp knife for rougher work. HAH! Not only does the thing go blunt, but it chips as well.

That's what metallurgy is about folks!

What a hope! Guess I will go to the supermarket and buy a knife that my skills can sharpen and stay with that.

may i echo those words written by CONISHKEE

I have my Yoshi for about 6 month by now, and I'm quite pleased with it. Fruit and veggies cut with it have a much better taste, for there is no oxidation from metal.

This is especially obvious with lemons. I have cracked off the tip while cutting on the porcelain plate - sad but manageable.

Here are some rules to enjoy years of Yoshi blade service: do not use it on glass, porcelain, stone or metal surfaces. Use on plastic or wooden cutting boards. Ceramics is fragile.

Do not drop the blade, or it may crack. Use only special sharpeners for ceramic blades if sharpening is ever needed.

As any new technology it takes time to get used to. Remember the first days of microwave ovens?

I agree big ripoff . Charged my card extra 74 dollars. Will not answer cust service line.

Don't Buy this product online or by phone.

I purchased the Yoshi Blade after watching an infomercial. I received the blades and all was well, but about a month after using it, the blade chipped and became dull. I thought no problem, the knife has a life time guarantee. Well good luck getting customer service to answer the phone. I have never gotten through. Also, if you do choose to order by phone or online be prepared to spend a lot of time listening to additional offers. If you really want a Yoshi blade purchase it at a local retailer, my advise is to just stick with a steel bladed knife.

This message is to everyone that purchases a ceramic knife of any kind. You cannot use them on any kind of cutting board except WOOD or PLASTIC.

Ceramic knives are delicate and require careful handling. However I have had mine for more than a year with no problems.

YoshiBlade

Very disappointed!!! I'd bought a set of Yoshi knifes with peelers this year after seeing on TV ad. It worked find for few month before I start noticing chips on both of the blades. It progressively got worse as it was utlized. Peeler works find for they are not used much. I decided to email customer service thinking that they were life time guarantee for replacement if anything were to go wrong. I had emailed customer service at idvl.custsvc@***.com twice and never received a response. So I went on the Yoshiblade website and it states "Ceramic knife that's guaranteed to stay sharp won't rust or pit. I guess that doesn't cover chips. Please read Terms and Agreement prior to purchase. Nevertheless it would of been nice to receive a response. What a way to run a business!?

These knives are made out of "ceramic" - they are not to be used to chop, go through anything hard, go through bone, ect... I know that sounds silly, but this is the case for all ceramic knives!

The Yoshi Blade and their company are ripoff artists

I bought the Yoshi Blade and peeler from a local CVS Pharmacy and it was onsale. It worked fine for about 20 vegetables and then started to dull. I tried to contact the company via e-mails but no response. I continued trying to use it further, but less frequently and it continued to dull. Finally, just 3 weeks ago I tried again to contact the company with the same result: they do not respond and they have no address to send registered letter to. I will now contact my State's Attorney and file a formal complaint and also notify Ch13 in Houston, Wayne Dochifino and advise him of the scam and very poor product.

Well, it looks like my persistance in trying to contact the Yoshii Blade people did some good. They sent me a new knife.

Funny thing, though - they have changed the fundamental design of the blade. Still, I do not know of any way to sharpen the knife when it becomes dull so, as I look at the situation, it was a poor decision on my part to buy it in the first place.
